Benchtop multiparameter water quality meter

HANNA Instruments HI2030-02
edge® multiparameter EC/TDS//salinity meter

Product Overview

edge's breakthrough design is the culmination of Hanna's vision, design capabilities, integrated production and world-class R&D. The edge meter is only 0.5" thick yet rich in features to meet the demands of a vast array of customers. For those that prefer very simple operation, there is a basic mode operation with simplified menu and options while for those who need advanced functionality there is a full featured standard operating mode. The edge HI2030 EC/TDS/Salinity kit can be upgraded at any time with additional probes to measure pH or Dissolved Oxygen.

edge uses advanced digital electrodes with built-in microchips that store calibration information and automatically transfer it to the meter when connected.

  • Digital Electrodes

  • edge electrodes are highly advanced featuring a built-in microchip that stores calibration information that edge automatically retrieves once the electrode is plugged in. These digital electrodes also feature an easy-to-plug 3.5 mm connector so you never have to worry about right angles or aligning pins.

  • Four Ring Probe

  • The HI2030 edge EC/TDS/Salinity meter is supplied with the HI763100 four ring platinum conductivity probe that features a built-in temperature sensor for automatic temperature compensated measurements. Compared to amperometric bipolar probes that have a limited range and can be affected by polarization effects, four ring technology allows for a wide range of measurement using a single probe. The HI763100 probe features a glass and PVDF body with a PEI (Polyetherimide) sleeve. Both materials offer excellent resistance to many aggressive chemicals.

  • 3.5 mm Probe Input

  • Plugging an electrode in has never been simpler, no alignment, no broken pins, just connect the 3.5 mm plug and get started.

edge® is incredibly versatile. It can be used in a variety of environments in numerous ways without taking up the space of a traditional benchtop meter.

  • Wall Mount

  • Using the wall mount bracket (included), edge can be placed on a wall leaving zero footprint on the countertop space. The bracket has a built-in connector to power edge and charge the battery. edge's zero footprint is designed to save you valuable benchtop space.

  • Holder and Electrode Holder

  • edge is supplied with a benchtop holder with an adjustable swivel electrode holder to charge and secure edge in place at an optimal viewing angle.

edge® is incredibly thin, weighs only 8.8 ounces, has an 8 hour battery life and features dual USB inputs.

  • Two USB Ports

  • edge includes a standard USB for exporting data with a flash drive and a second micro USB port for connecting to a computer for file export and charging edge when the holder is not available.

  • Data Logging

  • edge allows you to store up to 1000 log records of data. Data can be logged on demand (200 records), on stability (200 records) or at a predefined interval (600 records). Stored information includes the current reading, date, time and GLP data.

  • Basic Mode

  • edge offers a basic mode and a standard mode. In basic mode, edge functions as an EC meter with reduced functionality to simplify operation. In basic mode, the meter only allows automatic temperature compensation during calibration, automatic range adjustment of readings and automatic cell factor correction. The temperature correction coefficient is fixed at 1.9%/°C and interval logging cannot be performed. In standard mode, the user has the option to change these functions.

Municipal Wastewater Treatment

Municipal Wastewater Treatment · Hanna — Stock Configuration Case

Project Overview

The site is the inlet, biological and outlet stages of a municipal plant. The customer wanted Hanna properly configured on the existing plant, with the aim of covering portable and laboratory water testing with Hanna instruments.

Technical Challenges

What actually causes trouble is high solids and corrosive fractions, with large diurnal flow swings, and effluent parameters drift and probes foul with sludge and biofilm. All of this means the Hanna configuration has to involve selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability.

Configuration

Supply and installation were organised through the stock channel: configuring from stock and delivered quickly. On site this meant selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability, checked line by line against: stable compliance with Grade 1A discharge limits and online data reporting.

Performance

After commissioning the outcome is results available on site, reducing lab re-checks, and the readings are now used for process tuning.

Food & Beverage

Food & Beverage · Hanna — Stock Configuration Case

Site Conditions

This is a Food & Beverage customer whose plant is at dosing, pasteurising, filling and CIP stages. The main task was covering portable and laboratory water testing with Hanna instruments.

The Problem

The difficulty lies in syrups, dairy and beverages that scale easily, under strict hygienic requirements; at the same time frequent cleaning demands instruments that withstand hot CIP/SIP caustic cycles. Specification therefore means selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability.

What We Did

We took a stock channel approach — configuring from stock and delivered quickly. Delivery was built around selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability, with point-by-point checks on: food-safety and hygienic design per 3-A / EHEDG.

Operating Outcome

In service the system performs as intended — results available on site, reducing lab re-checks, with routine maintenance falling noticeably.

Chemical & Pharmaceutical

Chemical & Pharmaceutical · Hanna — Stock Configuration Case

Application Context

reactors, metering vessels and finished-product tanks is a typical Chemical & Pharmaceutical duty. The project started from Hanna, focusing on covering portable and laboratory water testing with Hanna instruments.

Process Constraints

corrosion plus Ex protection shortens instrument life and makes downtime costly, and highly corrosive media with solvents and crystallisation, partly in explosive atmospheres only amplify it. The Hanna specification must therefore cover selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability.

Delivery Approach

Delivery was handled as the stock channel — configuring from stock and delivered quickly. Execution centred on selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability, together with Ex certification and GMP traceability of records.

Field Results

Operation shows the benefit clearly — results available on site, reducing lab re-checks, with confidence in this measuring point improving markedly.

Power & Energy

Power & Energy · Hanna — Stock Configuration Case

Customer Profile

The typical setting in Power & Energy is boiler feedwater, turbine condensate and FGD/DeNOx systems. The measuring point is Hanna; the focus is covering portable and laboratory water testing with Hanna instruments.

Key Difficulties

Conditions are high temperature and pressure with both steam and saline water and, on top of that, drift under high temperature and pressure, with very costly unplanned outages, which a standard configuration cannot handle for long. The design therefore starts with selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability.

Implementation

The scope ran through the stock channel: configuring from stock and delivered quickly. Technically it hinges on selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability, and on these requirements: compliance with power-industry codes and unit availability targets.

Customer Benefit

In practice this means results available on site, reducing lab re-checks, which cut the workload on the site maintenance team.
