Cooling Challenges in the AI Era
AI server rack power has grown from 8kW to 30-100kW+, making liquid cooling (cold-plate/immersion) mainstream. Cooling-water flow, supply/return temperatures, chilled-water storage level and the room micro-environment must be monitored in real time to prevent outages and continuously optimize PUE.
Typical Measurement Points
- Cooling water loop: primary/secondary chilled-water flow, supply-return temperature difference.
- Chilled-water storage / makeup tank: continuous level, high/low alarms.
- Room environment: hot/cold aisle temperature & humidity, rack inlet temperature.
- Oil/liquid cooling loop: coolant flow, pressure, leak detection.
Recommended Instruments
- E+H Proline Promag: chilled-water/coolant flow, high accuracy, maintenance-free.
- E+H Micropilot / Levelflex: storage tank level, reliable non-contact.
- E+H iTHERM: high-accuracy supply-return temperature difference.
- E+H Cerabar: loop pressure & leak monitoring.
