HI2040-02

edge multiparameter water quality meter

HANNA Instruments HI2040-02
Flat-panel dissolved oxygen - saturated dissolved oxygen meter
  • HANNA introduces the revolutionary HI2000 (edge) series multi-parameter meter. The same tablet main unit enables rapid measurement of water quality parameters such as acidity, pH-mV conversion, conductivity, total dissolved solids, salinity, dissolved oxygen, saturated dissolved oxygen, and temperature °C/°F by changing electrodes. The HI2000 (edge) series multi-parameter meter represents HANNA's design capability and product integration, and will set a new standard for the HANNA brand.

  • Dissolved oxygen range: 0.00 to 45.00mg/L (ppm)

  • Saturated dissolved oxygen range: 0.0 to 300%

  • Accuracy: ±1.5% of reading or 1 digit, whichever is greater

  • Zero point (0%) and air (100%) single-point or two-point calibration

  • Manual, manual continuous, and time interval three data storage modes

  • ATC automatic temperature compensation, altitude compensation, and salinity compensation

  • GLP records calibration date, time, calibration, altitude, salinity, etc.

  • Customizable replaceable polarographic dissolved oxygen electrode and dissolved oxygen membrane

  • The edge® tablet meter is a breakthrough design, the crystallization of Hanna's vision, design capability, integrated production, and world-class R&D. The intelligent, slim line design means the edge can be used as a handheld, wall-mounted, or benchtop meter. Combined with advanced technology, it delivers fast and accurate results with laboratory-grade precision regardless of the format you choose. The cutting-edge design, capacitive touch keypad, and intuitive user interface are part of what makes this meter stand out. DO is measured via a unique digital electrode. This smart electrode connects via a simple 3.5 mm plug-in connector, enabling the edge to automatically recognize and store sensor type, ID, and calibration information. The edge is programmed for basic and advanced modes, providing simplified screen functions for routine measurements or detailed data display. It alerts the user if the electrode is not clean or if the buffer is contaminated during calibration using Hanna's exclusive CAL-CHECK function.

The edge® is equipped with many cutting-edge features to ensure accuracy and usability.

  • Digital electrode

  • The edge® electrode is highly advanced, featuring a built-in microchip that stores calibration information, which the edge® automatically retrieves once the electrode is inserted. These digital electrodes also feature an easy-to-insert 3.5 mm connector, so you never have to worry about right angles or aligning pins.

  • Clark-type polarographic DO probe

  • The edge® HI764080 DO probe integrates a built-in temperature sensor in a ½” PEI slim body for automatic temperature compensation of dissolved oxygen measurement. The HI764080 probe uses a threaded replaceable cap with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) membrane, which is easy to replace both in the field and in the laboratory. The supplied HI7041S is a concentrated potassium chloride filling solution used with Clark-type polarographic technology. With this technology, an external voltage is applied to the platinum cathode and silver anode to establish a current proportional to the oxygen concentration in the solution.

  • 3.5 mm probe input

  • Inserting an electrode has never been easier; no alignment, no broken pins, just connect the 3.5 mm plug and start

The edge® is incredibly versatile. It can be used in various environments in many ways without taking up the space of a traditional benchtop meter.

  • Wall-mounted

  • Using the wall-mount bracket (included), the edge® can be placed on a wall, leaving zero footprint on the benchtop. The bracket has a built-in connector to power the edge® and charge its battery. The edge®'s zero footprint is designed to save you valuable benchtop space.

Bracket and electrode holder The edge® comes with a benchtop bracket with an adjustable rotating electrode holder for charging and securely holding the edge® in place at the optimal viewing angle.

The edge® is extremely thin, weighs only 8.8 ounces, has an 8-hour battery life, and features dual USB inputs.

  • Two USB ports

  • The edge® includes a standard USB for exporting data using a flash drive, and a second micro USB port for connecting to a computer for file export and charging the edge® when the bracket is not available

  • Data logging

  • The edge® allows you to store up to 1000 data log records. Data sets include readings, GLP data, date, and time.

Municipal Wastewater Treatment

Municipal Wastewater Treatment · Hanna — Stock Configuration Case

Project Overview

The site is the inlet, biological and outlet stages of a municipal plant. The customer wanted Hanna properly configured on the existing plant, with the aim of covering portable and laboratory water testing with Hanna instruments.

Technical Challenges

What actually causes trouble is high solids and corrosive fractions, with large diurnal flow swings, and effluent parameters drift and probes foul with sludge and biofilm. All of this means the Hanna configuration has to involve selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability.

Configuration

Supply and installation were organised through the stock channel: configuring from stock and delivered quickly. On site this meant selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability, checked line by line against: stable compliance with Grade 1A discharge limits and online data reporting.

Performance

After commissioning the outcome is results available on site, reducing lab re-checks, and the readings are now used for process tuning.

Food & Beverage

Food & Beverage · Hanna — Stock Configuration Case

Site Conditions

This is a Food & Beverage customer whose plant is at dosing, pasteurising, filling and CIP stages. The main task was covering portable and laboratory water testing with Hanna instruments.

The Problem

The difficulty lies in syrups, dairy and beverages that scale easily, under strict hygienic requirements; at the same time frequent cleaning demands instruments that withstand hot CIP/SIP caustic cycles. Specification therefore means selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability.

What We Did

We took a stock channel approach — configuring from stock and delivered quickly. Delivery was built around selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability, with point-by-point checks on: food-safety and hygienic design per 3-A / EHEDG.

Operating Outcome

In service the system performs as intended — results available on site, reducing lab re-checks, with routine maintenance falling noticeably.

Chemical & Pharmaceutical

Chemical & Pharmaceutical · Hanna — Stock Configuration Case

Application Context

reactors, metering vessels and finished-product tanks is a typical Chemical & Pharmaceutical duty. The project started from Hanna, focusing on covering portable and laboratory water testing with Hanna instruments.

Process Constraints

corrosion plus Ex protection shortens instrument life and makes downtime costly, and highly corrosive media with solvents and crystallisation, partly in explosive atmospheres only amplify it. The Hanna specification must therefore cover selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability.

Delivery Approach

Delivery was handled as the stock channel — configuring from stock and delivered quickly. Execution centred on selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability, together with Ex certification and GMP traceability of records.

Field Results

Operation shows the benefit clearly — results available on site, reducing lab re-checks, with confidence in this measuring point improving markedly.

Power & Energy

Power & Energy · Hanna — Stock Configuration Case

Customer Profile

The typical setting in Power & Energy is boiler feedwater, turbine condensate and FGD/DeNOx systems. The measuring point is Hanna; the focus is covering portable and laboratory water testing with Hanna instruments.

Key Difficulties

Conditions are high temperature and pressure with both steam and saline water and, on top of that, drift under high temperature and pressure, with very costly unplanned outages, which a standard configuration cannot handle for long. The design therefore starts with selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability.

Implementation

The scope ran through the stock channel: configuring from stock and delivered quickly. Technically it hinges on selected by parameter set, accuracy and field portability, and on these requirements: compliance with power-industry codes and unit availability targets.

Customer Benefit

In practice this means results available on site, reducing lab re-checks, which cut the workload on the site maintenance team.
