- setup
- The gap-free hygienic design ensures simplest and reliable clean
- ability
- The maintenance-free operation increases the efficiency of the plant
Function
High frequency microwave pulses are coupled onto a cable or rod andguided along the probe. The pulse is reflected by the product surface. The time from emission to reception of the signals is proportional to thelevel in the vessel.
Case Studies
Municipal Wastewater Treatment · guided wave radar — Application Case
Project Background
The project covers the inlet, biological and outlet stages of a municipal plant. The work centres on guided wave radar and the core task is level and interface measurement along a guided probe or cable.
Operating Challenges
The medium and duty are characterised by high solids and corrosive fractions, with large diurnal flow swings, and effluent parameters drift and probes foul with sludge and biofilm. So guided wave radar cannot be specified generically — it calls for choosing rod or cable by dielectric constant, range and agitation.
Solution
The Ainstru engineering team worked through the level range: level solution matched to the actual tank and silo geometry. The configuration involves choosing rod or cable by dielectric constant, range and agitation, with these requirements in view: stable compliance with Grade 1A discharge limits and online data reporting.
Results
Since start-up the system has run steadily; the practical result is works even with low-dielectric media, with a small dead zone and high accuracy.
Food & Beverage · guided wave radar — Application Case
Project Overview
The site is dosing, pasteurising, filling and CIP stages. The customer wanted guided wave radar properly configured on the existing plant, with the aim of level and interface measurement along a guided probe or cable.
Technical Challenges
What actually causes trouble is syrups, dairy and beverages that scale easily, under strict hygienic requirements, and frequent cleaning demands instruments that withstand hot CIP/SIP caustic cycles. All of this means the guided wave radar configuration has to involve choosing rod or cable by dielectric constant, range and agitation.
Configuration
Supply and installation were organised through the level range: level solution matched to the actual tank and silo geometry. On site this meant choosing rod or cable by dielectric constant, range and agitation, checked line by line against: food-safety and hygienic design per 3-A / EHEDG.
Performance
After commissioning the outcome is works even with low-dielectric media, with a small dead zone and high accuracy, and the readings are now used for process tuning.
Chemical & Pharmaceutical · guided wave radar — Application Case
Site Conditions
This is a Chemical & Pharmaceutical customer whose plant is at reactors, metering vessels and finished-product tanks. The main task was level and interface measurement along a guided probe or cable.
The Problem
The difficulty lies in highly corrosive media with solvents and crystallisation, partly in explosive atmospheres; at the same time corrosion plus Ex protection shortens instrument life and makes downtime costly. Specification therefore means choosing rod or cable by dielectric constant, range and agitation.
What We Did
We took a level range approach — level solution matched to the actual tank and silo geometry. Delivery was built around choosing rod or cable by dielectric constant, range and agitation, with point-by-point checks on: Ex certification and GMP traceability of records.
Operating Outcome
In service the system performs as intended — works even with low-dielectric media, with a small dead zone and high accuracy, with routine maintenance falling noticeably.
Power & Energy · guided wave radar — Application Case
Application Context
boiler feedwater, turbine condensate and FGD/DeNOx systems is a typical Power & Energy duty. The project started from guided wave radar , focusing on level and interface measurement along a guided probe or cable.
Process Constraints
drift under high temperature and pressure, with very costly unplanned outages, and high temperature and pressure with both steam and saline water only amplify it. The guided wave radar specification must therefore cover choosing rod or cable by dielectric constant, range and agitation.
Delivery Approach
Delivery was handled as the level range — level solution matched to the actual tank and silo geometry. Execution centred on choosing rod or cable by dielectric constant, range and agitation, together with compliance with power-industry codes and unit availability targets.
Field Results
Operation shows the benefit clearly — works even with low-dielectric media, with a small dead zone and high accuracy, with confidence in this measuring point improving markedly.
