Measuring principle Oxygen-sensitive molecules (marker) are integrated in an optical active layer (fluorescence layer). The fluorescence layer surface is in contact with the medium. The sensor optics are directed at the back of the fluorescence layer. The sensor optics transmit green light pulses to the fluorescence layer. The markers respond (fluoresce) with red light pulses. The duration and intensity of the response signals depend directly on the oxygen contents or partial pressure.

The Memosens COS81D dissolved oxygen sensor is the ideal choice for hygienic applications, such as fermentation processes and inert protection against oxidation. The long-term stable, highly accurate measurement and the integrated continuous self-monitoring of the COS81D sensor guarantee the most reliable measured values, helping users achieve compliant product quality and optimize yield. Thanks to Memosens digital technology, the COS81D not only offers the highest process performance and data integrity, but is also simple to operate. It can be calibrated in the laboratory for predictive maintenance.

Benefits
Hygienic design in accordance with EHEDG and ASME BPE (including USP Cl. VI and FDA compliance) avoids cross-contamination and meets GMP and GLP requirements.
The sensor can be installed in the process and used in fermenters. Measurement results are completely consistent from the initial laboratory scale-up to the final enlarged process and the in-process laboratory.
The sensor can be replaced in just seconds for maximum process uptime: pre-calibrate the sensor in the laboratory, replace the existing sensor directly, plug & play. No polarization time required; measurement can begin immediately.
A built-in reference LED compensates for aging of the measuring LED, ensuring reliable measured values throughout the entire production batch.
Reduced maintenance: the Memosens COS81D contains no complex electrolyte or sensitive membrane. Simply replace the sensor cap and perform calibration.
Important sensor parameters and process data are stored in the Memosens COS81D sensor head. Throughout the sensor service life, the Memobase Plus CYZ71D sensor management software archives all stored parameters, providing fully traceable records and minimizing paperwork.
Suitable for CIP/SIP cleaning and autoclaving, with hazardous area approval.

Applications
The Memosens COS81D measures in demanding applications and aseptic hygienic applications, such as:
Fermentation processes
Inert protection against oxidation
Drinking water production
The Memosens COS81D dissolved oxygen sensor has international explosion-protection approvals, e.g. ATEX and IECEx, and can be used in hazardous areas.
Pharmaceutical certificates matching the sensor serial number are provided.
